Chemex

Chemex

  1. Coffee and Water Ratio:
    • Measure 50 grams of your favorite coffee beans.
    • Prepare 700 grams of hot water.
  2. Grinding:
    • Grind the coffee beans to a medium-coarse grind.
  3. Filter Setup:
    • Open your Chemex filter into a cone shape, ensuring one side has three layers.
    • Place the filter onto the top of the Chemex brewer, with the thicker portion covering the pouring spout.
  4. Filter Rinse:
    • Rinse the filter with hot water to remove any potential papery flavor.
    • Discard the rinse water.
  5. Adding Coffee:
    • Place the ground coffee in the middle of the filter.
  6. Blooming:
    • Pour hot water over the grounds until they're fully saturated (about 100-120 grams).
    • Wait for about 30 seconds to allow the coffee to bloom.
  7. Continued Pouring:
    • Continue pouring the rest of the water in a gentle, circular motion, keeping it well below the top of the Chemex.
  8. Filter Removal:
    • Once all the water has passed through the grounds, remove the filter and discard it.
  9. Pour and Enjoy:
    • Pour your freshly brewed coffee into your favorite mug and savor the flavors.
